About The Conejo

  CLUB HISTORY

Chartered July 1981, with 15 members, Soroptimist International of the Conejo is a volunteer service organization consisting of local Conejo Valley business and professional women of all ages, cultures and ethnic groups.

Soroptimist International of the Conejo is a part of a worldwide organization with almost 100,000 members in 120 countries and territories who contribute time and financial support to community-based and international projects benefiting women and girls.  Soroptimist International is the world’s largest classified service organization for women.  The organization sponsors a number of international projects designed to improve the status of women and girls throughout the world.

Members of Soroptimist International of the Conejo support both the international and local community projects by providing financial assistance and hands-on time and talent.  We support many local charities, including, but not limited to, Safe Harbor, Interface Safe Haven, Hospice of the Conejo, Senior Concerns, Conejo Valley Women’s Resource Center, Many Mansions, RAIN Project Transitional Living Center, Community Conscience and many more.  We are an international non-profit organization.  One hundred percent of the proceeds raised at our fundraising events are donated to local community charities.

In addition, two scholarships are awarded each year.  The Women’s Opportunity Award focuses on women who are improving their lives by attending school with plans to re-enter the work force after overcoming adversity in their lives.  The Violet Richardson Award acknowledges a Conejo Valley student (ages 14 - 17) for their volunteer community involvement.

Soroptimist International (SI) is the world’s largest classified service organization for women whose mission is to improve the lives of women and girls, in local communities and throughout the world.  The SI organization sponsors a number of international projects designed to support that mission.
